Baseball fans, it’s that time of the year again! We got the latest MLB power rankings on the way. More than a month into the Major League Baseball season, it’s time to update our power rankings. This week, we’ve got some exciting changes in store as another AL East team joins the top 5. 

From impressive performances by underdogs to surprising slumps from established favourites, we’ve covered all your latest MLB power ranking needs.

Brief Overview

It’s the constant rule of Tampa Bay Rays. However, Baltimore Orioles are not far behind in this week’s latest MLB Power Rankings. 

Orioles, are the legendary team led by American League Player of the Week Gunnar Henderson. They recently moved up a spot to enter the top five. Hence, making them among the four NYC AL East teams in the top 10.

Meanwhile, Texas Rangers still sit firm at position 2. However, the AL West rival Houston Astros have dropped from the top five and lost slugger Yordan Alvarez.

The Atlanta Braves remain third in the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers are fourth, and the Arizona Diamondbacks are seventh.

Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays are a force to be reckoned with this season. With an impressive record of 25-19, they have secured their spot in the top 5 power rankings. They are number one on the list. Even more remarkable is that they’ve managed to do it despite facing significant injuries.

One of the key players who has stepped up for the Rays is Tyler Glassnow. He provided a significant reinforcement of Ray’s rotation following the injuries to Jeffrey Springs and Drew Rasmussen., Moreover, his solid performances at bat have contributed significantly to their success.

But it’s not just Glassnoow who deserves credit – the entire team has been firing on all cylinders lately.

Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers have been making a name for themselves this season, holding the second spot on the latest MLB Power Rankings. Their strong performances at home and on the road have earned them an impressive record of 22-14.

One of their significant strength was Corey Seager, who led a severe offence that maintained a healthy lead over Houston. Over a five-game stretch last week, the veteran shortstop was 8-for-19, including a five-hit effort against the Rays on Saturday. The Texas team won a three-game series against Tampa Bay, the only team higher on our list.

Despite facing some tough matches and challenges, including the loss of Jacob Degrom, they have been good. 

Hence, it will be interesting to see if the Texas Rangers can maintain their momentum and continue climbing through the latest MLB Power Rankings ranks.

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves have been making waves in the latest MLB Power Rankings lately. With solid performances from their pitching and batting lineups, they’ve proven to be a force to be reckoned with. They lie third on the latest MLB power rankings. 

The Braves’ seven-game win streak ended on Sunday, a stretch that had featured a wild 13-10 victory over the Mets. The Justin Verlander and Spencer Strider matchup didn’t pan out. However, Verlander departed after three innings, and Strider allowed eight runs in four – his most dismal outing. 

Nonetheless, Atlanta managed to tie it up courtesy of:

 a Travis d’Arnaud home run in the 8th inning, 

followed by Orlando Arcia’s home run in the 9th. 

Hence, they eventually snatched victory from the jaws of defeat thanks to Ozzie Albies’ three-run walk-off.

All these factors combined have helped push the Braves into contention for their division and a spot among the best teams in Major League Baseball.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been a force to be reckoned with in the past few years. Their impressive roster of talented players consistently ranks high on the latest MLB power rankings. 

However, this season has been a bit more challenging for the Dodgers. The Dodgers finished a subpar road trip with two wins and three heartbreaking walk-off losses. 

Unfortunately, Julio Urias and Dustin May remain on the injured list, while Noah Syndergaard can not pitch due to a blister issue. The Dodgers will likely have to traverse the rest of this month with only four pitchers. It is an unlikely situation for a traditionally blessed club with some of baseball’s most excellent pitching depth. 

To add salt to injury, Tony Gonsolin’s velocity has decreased recently. 

However, Clayton Kershaw and Bobby Miller have performed excellently despite all this.

Despite these challenges, there is still hope for the Dodgers to turn things around and make a strong push towards postseason success. The return of injured players could provide a much-needed boost to the team’s performance.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for this talented but struggling team. Can they overcome their obstacles and rise in MLB power rankings once again? Only time will tell.

Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles have been surprising many people this season with their solid performance. 

There’s growing reason to fear the Orioles as they continue to thrive. For one, Gunnar Henderson is finding his game. After entering the month barely peeking above the Mendoza Line, the 21-year-old infielder had:

•  13 hits and four homers in 24 at-bats over the past week. 

Hence, Baltimore’s offence could take another giant leap with Cedric Mullins back from the injured list.

However, it’s not just their hitting that has impressed fans and analysts alike. The Orioles pitching staff has also held its ground, allowing fewer runs than expected in several games.

It remains to be seen if they can keep up this level of play throughout the entire season, but for now, they are a team worth watching in these  latest MLB Power Rankings.

Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks have had a solid start to the season. 

Though the Dodgers may still be ahead of the Diamondbacks in our rankings, the D-backs have a four-game lead in the standings. This can be attributed to their winning streak of six games and their dominant 12 out of 14 game run. 

During this stretch, they had a:

•  .827 OPS scored an average of six runs per game, 
• and stole 11 bases. 

So far in June, seven members of their lineup, including:

•  Christian Walker, 
• Ketel Marte, 
• Geraldo Perdomo, 
• Lourdes Gurriel Jr., 
• Corbin Carroll, 
• Evan Longoria 
• and Emmanuel Rivera 

Moreover, they have had at least 120 plate appearances each and are producing numbers that are more than 20% above the league average.

Despite being one of the smaller market teams in MLB, the Diamondbacks have built a competitive roster that can go toe-to-toe with some of the league’s heavyweights. Their success this season is proof that they’re not to be underestimated.

If they can continue to perform at this level throughout the season, there’s no doubt they’ll be firmly in playoff contention in September.
